On this day in 1990, free agent Darryl Strawberry signed a five-year, $22.25 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The ’83 NL Rookie of the Year hit 28 home runs and drove in 99 runs in ’91, but injuries and personal problems kept him sidelined for much of the next two seasons, and Strawberry was released by the Dodgers in 1994.
